Rockies vs. Dodgers

We celebrated Auntie Angie's birthday today by taking TJ to his first baseball game. It was only fitting it was the Rockies vs. Dodgers game. Mommy's team vs. Daddy's team. After much debate, we Daddy won and TJ wore his Dodgers gear to the game. We've decided we need to come up with our own name and logo -- Los Angeles Rockies, Colorado Dodgers, Dockies, etc. TJ did awesome. We were a little worried about the weather, but there was just enough of a breeze to cool him off now and then. He made it from the 3rd to the 9th inning no problem. We decided to go late and ditch early to avoid the crowds, and it made it so much simpler. He even took a nap right before the 7th inning stretch and slept through Mommy's favorite part of a Rockies game. :) Yesterday we were able to celebrate Mommy's friend's birthday. We had a great time meeting Jessica's friends and spending time with her. Before the party, TJ played and played and played. He wore Mommy out, but it was so fun to laugh with him and just be with my baby. It was a busy weekend, but one of my favorites so far!

Catching Up

We have lots to catch up on after our last post. It took TJ a little while to readjust after all the chaos from his baptismal weekend. The Monday after his baptism, TJ got a really high fever and gave his Mama quite a scare. After a few days, his temperature was back down to normal.

TJ got better just in time for his 4 month appointment and shots. (Poor little guy couldn't catch a break.) Dr. Marc gave TJ a glowing report. He weighed in at 13 lbs 4 oz and was 24 and a half inches long. His development is spot on, and he even impressed the doc by putting his binky in and out of his mouth on his own. Show off. :)

Speaking of showing off... TJ has been showing off for a little girl at day care. Each day, Miss Alissa sends home a sheet with what TJ did that day. One day it read, "Today I looked at a girl. I tried to roll over so I could see her better." Really? He's four months old and already flirting with girls at school? :) Mama's not ready for that. TJ is almost there with the whole rolling over thing. He's able to go from tummy to back, now he just needs to master the back to belly. He's giggling a little more now, although it's not a consistent thing yet, and he's babbling a lot more too. It's so funny when he gets in the mood to chat. Today at day care he started holding his bottle on his own, too. Miss Alissa was so impressed. He does really well at day care. They make little art projects, read and play a lot. He's always happy when I leave him there and when Daddy picks him up. It's still tough to leave him even though I know he has a great time. Mommy still has to wait to put her makeup on at work in case I cry on the way in.

Last Saturday Mommy and Daddy got to go on a date together. After almost two years, we were finally able to use our SkyVenture gift card given to use from some of Mommy's friends at work for our wedding shower. I'm not so much of a daredevil, but I went ahead and suited up for my three minutes of indoor skydiving. I'm glad I did it, but really have no desire to do it again... or do the real thing. Frankie, on the other hand, had a blast. He'd go again and again if he could. He did a great job, too. While I panicked each time I got high, Frankie was a master by his second time around. It was great to be able to experience that with each other... and to have a great time with just the two of us. We cashed in on a "Babysitting Coupon" from Uncle Marshall, and TJ had a great time with him! We were only gone for a few hours, but they played and had fun together. We were glad TJ took to Marshall so well. It makes it easier to leave when we know he's in good hands and with his "buds." :)

TJ got his first pair of Pumas this week... thanks to Grandma & Grandpa Reno. He's a pretty stylin' kid in the first place... but seriously, with his new kicks, it's just too much!
This is a busy weekend for us. Tomorrow, we're going to a birthday BBQ for one of Mommy's good friends, and then Sunday, we're celebrating Aunt Angie's birthday with the Rockies-Dodgers game. We're so excited to take TJ to his first ball game... the only debate in the house -- what logo does he wear. :)

TJ's Baptism

It was a crazy weekend at the Martin household. TJ's baptism was Saturday evening, and we had a house full! TJ's Grandma Martin, Uncle Joey, Aunt Tara and his cousins flew in Friday afternoon. His Godfather, Uncle Justin, came in that night. TJ was able to meet his cousins, Mary & Joseph. It was so fun seeing the little ones together. Mary absolutely loved her little cousin... it was so cute! Joseph & TJ are only 3 weeks apart, so it was fun with the two little ones together.

Before Mass we had a homemade Italian dinner, thanks to Grandpa. Grandma Reno and Granpa slaved for weeks getting the raviolis, meatballs, homemade sausage and sauce together -- It was delicious!

My Godfather, Uncle Carl, and my Aunt Jane came up for the dinner. Our close friends, Ryan, Natalie and Marshall were also there.

TJ's Godparents are my sister, Aunt Angie, and Uncle Justin.
He was able to wear his Daddy's baptismal outfit. He was so flippin' cute in it! It was a special moment for Frankie... seeing his son in the same outfit he wore on his special day. I'll never forget how proud he was and how happy it made me watching his son.

TJ was so funny during the ceremony -- he didn't make a peep! In fact, he barely woke up when the priest poured the water on his head. He opened his eyes, looked around for a second, like, "What are you doing to me?", then he went right back to sleep. It was so adorable!

On Sunday, Daddy & Uncle Justin were up before the crack of dawn and met Grandpa on the lake for some fishin'. TJ, Grandma Martin, and I drove down to my parents and met everyone for a BBQ that afternoon. Then, it was back home for a little bit of relaxation.

TJ turns four-months-old today! I can't believe how fast it's gone by. I still get overcome with emotion when I look at my little boy. He's such a blessing.

He's trying to roll over (just can't get over that shoulder quite yet), he's talking up a storm, and he's starting to teeth. Yes, already. Frankie & I were talking about how it's great he's getting his teeth, but we're not ready for the whole teething process! :)

He goes to the doctor tomorrow for his 4 month checkup. We're keeping our fingers crossed the shots go well.

Celebrating Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas out there... especially my fellow first-time mommies! It was the best first Mother's Day a mom could ask for! We started the morning watching Daddy's baseball game. TJ showed up in his own baseball uniform, of course! :) After the game... Daddy treated me with chocolate chip pancakes and bellinis. It was awesome. Then came the best gift a mom could get -- a nap! Three hours! It was the best. The day was full of lots of cuddles, kisses and smiles, and that's more than I could've asked for. :)

Earlier this week TJ was able to finally meet his Aunt Debbie, Uncle Kevin and cousin Chloe from California. It was so great to catch up with them and for them to finally love on the little man.

On Saturday, we took our first trip to Wash Park and helped Uncle Marshall celebrate his 30th birthday. It was a beautiful day when we got there, but once it got chilly, we had to cut the party short. TJ was all dressed up in his plaid pants and matching hat -- seriously, he was too cute and a huge hit at the party! :)

We have a busy week coming up. Grandpa is coming up with Grandma to watch TJ on Monday and Tuesday. Then, it's time to get ready for company. Grandma Martin, Uncle Joey and Aunt Tara and Uncle Justin get here Friday for TJ's big day. His baptism is on Saturday evening.

We're so excited to get the family together and for the cousins to meet. And... of course we can't wait for Grandpa's homemade raviolis, meatballs and sausage! Should be a great day!

Firsts

TJ giggled on Monday. Mommy missed it. Daddy missed it. Grandma Reno was able to get him to giggle. I was in the shower getting ready for work when it happened. Luckily, he did an encore performance when I got out. It was quick little heh-heh-heh, and it is a sound I will never forget. Now we've gotta just get him to do it for Daddy.

I was pretty bummed when I wasn't there for his first giggle, and it made me sad to realize that there may be a lot of "firsts" I'm going to miss now that I'm back to work. My boss, a very successful working mom herself, had some great advice, though. Whenever I hear or see him do something for the first time... it's the first time I've experienced it with him. And it doesn't matter that he's done it before... it's the first time for me and it will be just as amazing. She has a great point.

TJ got his first cold last Wednesday. He's doing much better... just a stuffy nose... no fever or chest congestion. He's such a smiley baby that you could really tell he didn't feel good those first few days. Nothing you did could make him grin. Now, he's back to his happy TJ self. :)

Another first -- TJ spent the first night in his crib Sunday night. He did awesome. Mommy felt a little weird not having him in there... but he had a great night.

TJ's such a big boy now at 15 weeks. He sits up by himself when we prop him up, and he's really trying to roll over. He gets on his side, but can't get over that shoulder quite yet. It's so funny because he grunts and grunts as he tries to roll over, then he gets frustrated when he can't do it. (Sounds like his Mama!) I have no doubt that it will happen soon.
