A Saint Is Born

I think daddy needs to be pinched -- his son is born and the Saints go to the Super Bowl all in the same week!!!

Hours after I posted the blog saying that "any day now" can hurry up... my water broke! It woke me up at 2:15 in the morning, and we got to the hospital at about 3 in the morning. 19 hours later... and after 2 hours and 15 minutes of pushing, Thomas Joseph Reno Martin was born at 9:05 p.m. He weighed in at 7 lbs 1 oz and was 19 inches long.

We came home Wednesday afternoon and Grandma Reno stayed to help us out. She did all the cooking and cleaning so Frankie & I could focus on TJ. It was a HUGE help!

Grandma Martin & Uncle Joey came to visit for a few days so they could meet TJ, too.

We're starting to get the hang of things and are loving our little boy.

Any Day Now...

With two weeks to until D-Day, this whole "any day now" thing can hurry up. We're ready, and we can't wait to hold TJ in our arms and bring him home. Plus, have I mentioned... I'm done being pregnant. I'm not a very patient person, and I think waiting 38 weeks is long enough. :)

The weekend was spent getting ready for baby. I had the car washed, waxed and detailed... ready to bring him home. Frankie shampooed the carpets and rearranged the family room. I cleaned the kitchen, living room, dining room and cleaned the floors. Frankie also put the shelves up in the nursery and they look really great!

I was hoping the housework would help kick things into gear, but no luck... a long walk didn't even help.

I'm back to work on Monday, but will be taking Wednesday off so I can have a day to rest. We go back to the doctor on Wednesday afternoon, so hopefully the doctor will have some good news and more progress will have been made. Or... maybe... we won't need to go to a prenatal checkup at all! :)

Wild Thing

TJ was a little crazy at the doctor's office today. At first, he wouldn't stop moving for the nurse to stay on his heartbeat. Every time she would get it, he'd move again. Finally, she was able to stay on the heartbeat, but he was moving so much, she couldn't get an accurate read. There were a few times she said, "Sit still, little one." I have a feeling we'll be saying that a lot in the future. :)

Things are still "normal" for the pregnancy. The doctor says I'm still about one centimeter dilated, so that hasn't changed. However, a week ago, I was 30% effaced and today, I'm 80% effaced, so there's been a lot of progress made there.

Last week, the doctor estimated TJ at about 7 lbs. Today, the doctor said he expects him to be "bigger than average" and that he won't be surprised if "he's pushing 8 pounds when it's time to deliver." I don't think I'll like that at all, so it's just one more reason the little guy should come out sooner than later. :)

I have been having more frequent contractions in the past few days. Still, there's no consistency or pain with them... just a lot more. We go back for another appointment next Wednesday. Maybe he'll be here by then, but I doubt it. :)
