Gone Fishin'

It's been a while since I've written, and a lot has happened in the past few weeks. Last Sunday TJ turned three months old... and he's surpassed the 12 pound mark! The two of us met Grandpa & Grandma Reno and Auntie Angie in the Springs and ate at Fargos, then we drove back to Denver and watched Daddy's baseball game.

The very next day we took our first road trip. We loaded up the Jeep and headed to Missouri so TJ could meet his Great Uncle Dave & Great Aunt Judy. TJ was a champ the entire trip! (Mommy was the one who was fussy!) We stopped in Salina, Kansas for the night before arriving in Nevada on Tuesday.Grandpa & Grandma met us there that afternoon. The next morning it was back on the road to go fishing at this great lake in Mountain Home, Arkansas. It was another drive, but it was so worth it! Again, TJ wasn't phased at all -- he's such a happy baby.
As soon as we got everything unloaded, Daddy, Grandpa & Uncle Dave headed out to the lake and didn't come back for hours! They spent the entire next day out on the lake. TJ and Mommy relaxed a lot and went for a walk in his "new to us" Baby Bjorn, which is loves. He also got to sport his Carhart outfit Grandpa & Grandma got him for his 3-month birthday. (Yes, this child is spoiled!) TJ spent the day entertaining us ladies... he's so funny now! He's a talker and LOVES talking to and smiling at his Carhart hat -- it was hilarious!

Daddy actually outfished Grandpa... bringing home a nice-sized catfish along with perch and white-mouth bass. Between the three of them there was plenty of food for a fish fry that night. Thank goodness there was an awesome rib place up the street so Mommy and Auntie Angie could eat, too. ;) The couple that owned the resort was so nice. When Grandpa went to buy TJ a souvenir outfit, the woman just gave it to him -- must be because TJ is so darned cute!

TJ slept so well during the trip... making it until 5 or 6 in the morning. Hopefully that will stick now that we're home.

Friday morning it was back on the road. We stopped at Lambert's Restaurant -- Home of the thrown rolls. Yes, they throw rolls at you. It was good eatin' and a lot fun. Then, one last family stop at the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield before we headed north to I-70 and west to Colorado.

Daddy and I were tired of driving, but TJ didn't seem to mind. We spent the night in Salina again before leaving for home Saturday. We spent a lot of time in the car, but we got to have a lot of time together, and that's all that mattered.

We were so thankful TJ finally got to meet his Aunt and Uncle, and it was a great trip filled with wonderful family, great food and lots of memories made.

Daddy Diary April 14, 2010

Happy Birthday!
Today is TJ's uncle's birthday. Joey Martin is 36 today.
Congrats to him. ((He's dunking me in the ocean in the picture.))
I haven't written in a while, but not for good reason.
I have been busy at work and it keeps me away from the blog.
Our "normal" routine is officially taking affect tomorrow and I think it is affecting Mom more than anyone. Lesley has been back to work for 6 days now and on Thursday she will be dropping TJ off at the Kinder Care center down the street.
TJ will do half days for a while at day care.
It's gonna be tough.
On his parents.

Li'l Chatterbox

Well, I know that it comes as a shock to everyone... but our son loves to "talk!" He must take after his Mom AND Dad! :) He'll just sit there and coo, smile, and babble. He talks to us, his dancing bears mobile, the monkeys on his pack and play... pretty much everything! It's so much fun.

And... it's so much more difficult to leave him while he's getting into his fun stages. We survived my first week back to work... barely. :) TJ did OK. It was hard for him -- he didn't eat well or sleep well with Mommy gone. But yesterday he did much better. The first day wasn't as bad as I thought. It was exciting to be back and see everyone, but I missed him so much. When I got home that night, he woke up a little and a giant smile spread across his face. It melted my heart. As the week went on, it actually got more difficult to leave him. It didn't help that there was major breaking news my second night producing... and I worked a 40 hour week in just four days!

This past weekend Daddy went to California for Li'l Joe's baptism, so TJ and Mommy had lots of quality time together. I soaked up every moment, and while we missed Daddy... it was fun having the li'l man all to myself! Daddy brought back TJ his first set of Mickey Mouse ears, and I must say... he's the cutest Mouseketeer ever! :)

I was a little worried about his sleeping schedule being off last week with me going back to work, so I did some reading and got hooked by Johnson's Bedtime Bath promotion. Giving him a bath, massage and quiet time before bed is "clinically proven to give your baby a better's night sleep." Not my baby! He played during the massage instead of relaxed... and they he played until 1 a.m.!!! We're learning every day that TJ is not a typical baby, and that he has a mind of his own!

Monday was tough going back to work, but TJ had a much better day eating and sleeping, so that makes me feel better. Our next big challenge comes later this week when TJ goes to day care. Mommy knows she's going to cry all the way to work Thursday!

TJ loves blowing bubbles... and playing with his puppy dog from Auntie Angie. Here a few cute pics.
